Without these Legends we would not have the entertainment we have today; including most of the shows on the Las Vegas strip, throughout the world and many of the popular variety shows on television. In addition, women in burlesque have fought and continue to fight for women’s rights. In the early days of burlesque women fought not only for the abolition and suffrage of women, but for the right to be on a stage.
