Donations in Memory of Col. Dave Pollard

Col. Dave left funeral arrangements that requested that in lieu of flowers, that friends donate to the Equine Therapy Group Foundation, which served him and continues to serve hundreds of veterans, families, and at-risk youth.

Dave was our friend, and we loved him dearly. If you knew Dave, then it’s a safe bet that you loved him dearly too. Dave participated in the very first veterans’ group we hosted at our farm. That one little group of men became the genesis of the thousands of veterans, families, and children that we’ve been able to help. From the first day of our non-profit Equine Therapy Group Foundation, Dave was our most ardent supporter, encourager, and advocate. For anyone who didn’t know Dave well, he was a meticulous machine of positivity and order. Colonel Dave was the man that so many of us pretend we want to be, but never quite commit to being. Kindness was his standard, and a high standard it was.

Dave was a part of this place from its very beginning, and we like to think he’ll continue to be a part of this place forever to come. His contributions and support aimed at helping other veterans like him will be his legacy here on Earth. His kindness and positive spirit will follow right along with him to the next place.

You can impact the lives of people in our community.

Your generous donation makes our work with the veterans, families, and at-risk youth possible. Thank you for supporting our programs. Please share this page with as many people as possible!

Equine Assisted Counseling uses the nature and relationship with the horse to bring out the client's natural patterns of relating, handling of new situations, and problem-solving skills. The client’s interaction with the horse is used as a metaphor for life. The horse’s innate observational abilities and heightened awareness of body language provide the client with immediate feedback. Because all of the session is based on action clients more quickly recognize their own patterns and implement needed behavior changes. The horse functions as a mirror of the person's own behavior.

The Equine Therapy Group Foundation, located in Stapleton, AL, is a 501c3 charitable organization that has served thousands of veterans, families, and youth since 2015.
