The South School Project

You can impact the lives of people in our community.

In 2016 Fairfield Community Health Center purchased the former South Elementary School in Lancaster for $25,000 with the hopes of renovating the building and transforming it into a state-of-the-art community health center. This project is vital to the overall health of our community and will revolutionize healthcare in Fairfield County.

The current plan is to move all operations from our Main Street clinic, our largest clinic location, as well as our administrative team into the renovated school building. This will allow us to make much-needed improvements in care access and will allow us to expand from 14 primary care exam rooms to 24 and from 4 behavioral health counseling suites to 14, as well as add an on-site lab that will allow for faster and more convenient testing for our patients.

In addition, we will be able to bring on more counselors and psychologists as well as create jobs in our community by expanding our billing department. This project will give us the ability to add impactful services such as medication-assisted treatment of addiction to combat the opioid crisis and leave space for future expansions to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
