Jamie Samuelsen was a beloved fixture in the Detroit sports media scene for over 25 years. He was the morning drive radio host of the “Jamie and Stoney Show” on 97.1 The Ticket, a regular on the FOX2 TV Lions pregame show, and an opinion writer for The Detroit Free Press at Freep.com.

He passed away on August 1, 2020, at the age of 48, after a 19-month battle with colorectal cancer. Right before he died, Jamie went on the radio to share his fight and urge listeners to get a colonoscopy. The lasting impact of Jamie’s message continues to resonate across the community.

Jamie’s wife, Detroit broadcaster Christy McDonald, along with her three children, are finding new and creative ways to spread Jamie’s last message of awareness. They support the amazing work at Fight CRC to make screening accessible, help educate patients, and fund research.

The Jamie Samuelsen Strike Out Colon Cancer Baseball Game will help raise funds for Fight CRC’s mission.

Thank you for being so supportive!
