As I celebrate my 40th birthday, I have lots to reflect on as well as look forward to in the future. The Formerly Incarcerated College Graduates Network (FICGN) is an organization that is close to my heart because it empowers and supports individuals impacted by incarceration to transform their lives through educational attainment. We believe that everyone deserves real opportunities to advance intellectually, socially, and economically. Through mentorship, advocacy, and community support, we help formerly incarcerated individuals achieve their dreams of higher education and successful careers in reentry.
I've decided to dedicate this milestone to a cause that means the world to me: our Removing Barriers initiative. Removing Barriers provides financial assistance to people in reentry who face financial obstacles that prevent them from completing their college credentials in their final semester or re-enrolling in college due to financial holds. My goal is to raise $4,000 through donations in the amount of $40.00 during the month of August and I would be honored to have your support in this mission.
Your $40.00 donation will contribute directly to this program, making a significant impact on the lives of those we serve. By donating, you’re not just supporting an organization; you’re investing in the lives of countless individuals who are determined to make a positive impact in the world.
Thank you for considering a contribution to this cause in honor of my birthday. Together, we can put an end to the negative impacts of incarceration and create lasting change in communities hit hardest by it.
With gratitude,
Terrell A. Blount
