About

Hack the Hood (HtH) is a Black-led organization rooted in Oakland, CA bridging the tech equity gap for Bay Area youth. Hack the Hood's mission is to provide Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and AAPI youth, ages 16-25, with tech skill-building programs and career navigation support that are grounded in justice and support economic development.

Celebrating 10 Years of Impact

Over the past decade, Hack the Hood has remained steadfast in our commitment to catalyzing change through technology, empowering young minds, and cultivating pathways to tech careers for Black, Latinx, AAPI, and Indigenous communities. Over the course of 10 years, we've made a significant impact in Oakland and the greater Bay Area by:

  • Educating and empowering more than 1,500** **youth through tech skill-building programs
  • Helping launch numerous careers in the tech industry, and breaking the cycle of generational poverty for many of our learners.
  • Creating, adapting, and expanding tech skill-building and career pathway programs to meet the ever-evolving needs of the technology workforce and better prepare youth for opportunities in tech.

This incredible milestone achievement serves as a reminder of the remarkable decade-long journey we've embarked upon, the lives we've impacted, and the limitless potential that technology embodies for all.

An Invitation to Support!

As the tech sector endures dramatic changes, income inequality widens across the Bay Area, and racial equity gaps persist in tech, your support is more critical than ever.

As we look to the future, we need your support to ensure we continue to empower Black, Latinx, AAPI, and Indigenous youth for many years to come.

Together, let's engage in profound reflection on a decade marked by innovation and inspiration and we are eager to share our vision for the forthcoming years ahead at Hack the Hood —one aimed at forging a more equitable and inclusive tech sector.
