Hack the Hood is celebrating a major milestone this year: our 10-year anniversary!

Founded in 2013, Hack the Hood’s mission is to train early career Black, Latinx, AAPI, and Indigenous youth through data and tech skill-building programs and career navigation support that are grounded in racial justice and support economic development and growth.

Over the past decade, with your partnership, Hack the Hood has made a significant impact in Oakland and the greater Bay Area:

  • Trained and empowered more than 1,500 youth of color with in-demand digital skills.
  • Helped launch numerous careers in the tech industry, breaking the cycle of generational poverty for our learners.
  • Piloted, adapted, and expanded tech skill-building and career pathway programs to meet the ever-evolving needs of the technology workforce and better prepare youth for opportunities in tech.

Despite our progress, the demand and need for our services keep on growing. As income inequality widens across the Bay Area and racial equity gaps persist in tech, your support is more critical than ever.

As we look to the future, we need your support to ensure we continue to empower Black, Latinx, AAPI, and Indigenous youth for many years to come. Our goal is to raise $30,000 by June 30th.
