The Blake Roberts & Joshua Evans Memorial Fund

Blake Newton Roberts entered chapter eternal on January 8, 2019 at 24 years of age. Blake was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed spending time at Holsten Lake with his friends and fantasy football. He also greatly enjoyed spending time with his dog, Ava Gardner. He graduated with honors from North Buncombe High School in Weaverville, North Carolina and attended college at Western Carolina University and East Tennessee State University. Blake was an energetic Pike with a great future ahead of him.

After his passing in 2019, several Zeta Xi chapter alumni decided to establish a scholarship to memorialize Blake under the direction of his Pike big brother, Ben Bolinger. One of the first supporters of this effort was Joshua Evans with a generous $1,000 gift. Tragically, Joshua Dean Evans entered chapter eternal on February 10, 2021 at 27 years of age, before the completion of the original scholarship fund.

Joshua graduated from Riverside High School in 2011 and Western Carolina University in 2017, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship and a Minor in Communication. He worked for Vermeer Corporation, selling agricultural machines where he won several awards for his sales skills. Joshua was an avid baseball and football player. He grew up in Durham but was fond of the Blue Ridge Mountains and warm, sunny beaches. He loved fiercely and was an ardent protector of those he loved. He never met a stranger and always left people feeling better than he found them. Joshua was full-of-life and always had a smile on his face. His big hugs will be felt long after he is gone.

Blake and Joshua’s Zeta Xi brothers established the Blake Roberts and Joshua Evans Memorial Scholarship to honor their memory and ensure they are celebrated for decades to come.

Please join us in making a gift in their memory.
