Raising Hands Spring Fundraiser
Raising Hands Tutoring is launching our Spring Fundraiser with the goal of raising $20,000! Our waiting list of students is growing; our at risk struggling readers need your help! With your contribution and support we can provide our underserved children access to the high quality reading tutoring they need but would otherwise not be able to access.
This has been a big year for us as an organization. We more than doubled our impact and the Highland Park School district has begun sponsoring our organization. As our organization grows as does our waiting list of students needing and qualifying for services. We are the only organization in Middlesex County providing accessibility to this specialized reading support.
Our goal of $20,000 will provide over 400 hours of free high quality tutoring to qualifying children in town and sponsor the certification of 5 local public school teachers.
$350 provides one month of free reading tutoring for one qualifying student (includes all technology and materials needed for tutoring).
$2000 provides 50 hours (6 months) free reading tutoring for one qualifying student (includes all technology and materials needed for tutoring)
$4000 covers the Orton Gillingham training and certification cost for one public school teacher and over 60 hours of tutoring for one qualifying student (includes all technology and materials needed for tutoring)
By training and certifying one public school teacher in the OG method, we have the potential to reach 125 students over 5 years. This teacher will use their dyslexia training in the general education classroom to influence the reading development of every child in the classroom in addition to reaching our at risk children after hours through tutoring. As a Title 1 school district where more than 40% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and fewer than 25% of our low income students met state reading standards, access to high quality reading instruction in the general education classroom is crucial for reading growth.
