Donate to grow food, community, & network capacity

To the Resilience Hub community & members,

Sending you thoughts of warmth, light, and rebirth as we move into the seasons of abundance– we hope you’re finding joy these days. During this busy time, we want to update you on what we have been up to and ask for your support in keeping the Hub moving forward as we set new goals.

As many of you know, the pandemic had us operating at a diminished and altered capacity. Eileen, Nick, and the RH Board have been working hard to bring the Hub back up to speed since a leadership transition last winter. Hopefully you’ve already joined us at any of the 20+ events we have already hosted whether it was the Fermentation Fair, Southern Maine Seed and Scion Swap, Branching Out Author Series, or one of the workshops and permablitzes we have helped host at Mt. Joy Orchard. If not, we sure hope to see you soon! It has been earnestly rejuvenating to be back in the community with you all.

While we are heartened to see our community re-emerge and grow after over 2 years apart, we recognize that we have a responsibility to solve the financial puzzle that helps keep us operating. In the past, the Hub has primarily relied on large donations from supporting community members. We’ve been working hard to establish relationships with a number of institutional funders and have applied for multiple grants that have yet to materialize. Furthermore, despite the potential for grant funding, these funds often come with restrictions and limitations on what they can be used for. In this challenge, we see yet another opportunity to adapt and do things differently.

Like our vision for sustainable food growing, our vision for the Resilience Hub is one rooted in ecological wisdom. Our ecosystem consists of our broad network of community members, the neighborhoods where we live and work together, and the natural abundance surrounding us.
We envision a Hub that thrives on community-based decision making, mutual aid labor, and crowdsourced funding.

The Resilience Hub has long been committed to working together to regenerate land, grow healthy food, and foster resilience on personal, household, and community levels. Today, we are working towards a community-centered funding model that aligns with our grassroots ethics. So, we are reaching out to ask: are you able to make a contribution to the Hub at this time? All donations made to the Hub will be in support of our mission and are tax-deductible.

By emphasizing direct, unrestricted donations from you all we are asking our community, rather than foundations, to support the administrative, network building, and community organizing tasks that help us thrive. This feels like the most earnest way to foster trust, accountability, and interdependence.

In addition to financial contributions, the Hub is also excited to find more ways for its people to engage in decision making processes through participation in working groups, volunteer opportunities, board meetings, surveys, and community events. If you are interested in getting more involved with the Hub or if you have questions about where our work is headed, please reach out to nick@resiliencehub.org or eileen@resiliencehub.org to chat!

In community,
Nick & Eileen
