Indigenous peoples are coming together with other front line and environmental justice organizers in Huchiun, Muwekma Ohlone Territory, also known as Richmond, California from May 13-17 in resistance to the oil giant Chevron.
We are frontline communities impacted by Chevron’s extractive supply chain from the point of extraction to transport, refining and distribution of their toxic product. This "confluence" --a play on conference, but honoring our coming together in reverence to the waters--draws together organizers against toxic legacy in unceded native lands from Ecuador to Alaska, to the pipelines and tankers that transport crude from the Alberta Tar Sands through the Salish Sea, and brought to the refineries in California.
We are fed up! We are calling communities across the Americas to join us in the Bay Area this May for a series of events and peaceful actions to call out Chevon’s crimes, take action, and strengthen our community of resistance.
Please support by donating to this gathering and action: sponsor an indigenous canoe family to travel to the confluence with their traditional canoes to participate in the confluence and water action. Help support us to bring in Indigenous artists, organizers and delegations from so-called Canada and the US. Can you pitch in to support Indigenous peoples to attend?
Core organizers of Anti-Chevron gathering include: Tiny House Warriors, Amazon Watch, Sacred Places Institute, Idle No More SF Bay, Asian Pacific Environmental Network, Oil and Gas Action Network, Rich City Rays, Fencelines Project, Arab Resources Organizing Center, BDS Movement, Boycott Chevron campaign, and more.
