Shine Together partners with young women who become mothers as teens to achieve their full potential in school and as parents, so two generations can thrive.
Teen pregnancy and young parenthood disproportionately affect young women of color, often perpetuating a cycle of poverty across generations. Nationally, among women who become mothers in their teens, only 50% graduate high school, and fewer than 3% earn a college degree by the age of 30.
At Shine Together, we partner with young mothers to heal trauma, build essential skills, foster a future-focused mindset, and address the barriers to success in school and life.

An Advocate: A trusted adult providing one-on-one coaching and personalized support to navigate life’s challenges.
Educational Navigation: Guidance in setting and achieving educational goals, from high school through post-secondary education, while addressing obstacles to success.
Early Childhood Development: Parenting skills training, childhood development education, and emotional regulation support for both mother and child.
Financial Well-Being: Financial literacy education, career skill development, and connections to career advancement resources.
Health and Wellness: Access to physical, emotional, and mental health care resources for both mother and child, along with health education.

85% of our participants graduate high school or are on track to graduate by the time they complete the program, compared to only 50% of young mothers nationally.
Participants read to their children an average of 16 minutes daily, fostering early literacy skills and preparing their children for success in school.
88% of participants’ children meet their linguistic milestones, ensuring they are kindergarten-ready and positioned for long-term academic success.
