Help Pepper Heal

Pepper is The Happy Heart Haven's INCREDIBLE Livestock Guardian Dog and she needs your help!

Not only does she protect 39 rescued animals, she is a friend to every person that walks into the Ranch. If you have met her, you know.

Pepper started limping and we took her to the vet where they found that her leg was slightly inflamed and sore. She was given meds and sent home to let time heal. The vet assumed it was a sprain.

On Wednesday, May 31st, we realized what was a slight limp was now a complete stop of use of her leg. We immediately brought her inside and called the vet.

While Pepper's vet was not able to do the surgery due to it being so specialized, we found a wonderful surgeon that was able to perform the surgery and could do it Sunday, June 5th.

When Pepper went into surgery they found a full cruciate tear and a shattered meniscus. They installed a titanium plate for healing.

When the surgeon called to give us the report, he was surprised she was still standing! Such a testament to the amazing protector that Pepper is! She is a light in this world!

Of course when we went to pick her up, she was already standing and ALL smiles!

The entire surgery, including follow up and after care is $4,578. We are grateful to Surgipet for heavily discounting it.

The recovery for this surgery is set to be 4 months. During that time, Pepper will be inside of our home recovering as she uses a sling to walk around. HEALING IS HAPPENING!
