Drug addiction, poverty, homelessness. Hunger, abuse, trauma. These are just some of the problems and realities of those living in poor neighborhoods across America. In Milwaukee alone, 29.4% of its residents are living in poverty. 43.3% of children live in poverty.
What if those children had a safe place to go and build? Your Move MKE Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization from the southside of Milwaukee. We believe using hip-hop and art we can bring hope to the children of the southside of Milwaukee while helping them combat a poverty mentality with higher level thinking. Currently, our key objective is to raise funds to purchase a building. Having a building will make it possible to provide a safe haven, mentors, and unique programs to benefit the young people of Milwaukee. For 4 years we have organically serviced the southside through the Hip Hop Chess Club of WI. Now, with our new status we will be able to make lasting changes once we have a collective space.
Our programs will combine elements of hip-hop with higher level thinking, mental health awareness, and physical health.
