Help Minnesota People of Color LGBTQ+ Pride Organization to continue its mission and do great things in Minneapolis & St. Paul MN. We cannot do this alone. This past year has been exceedingly difficult for us; However, we know how important the work is that we are doing in the community. Nevertheless, to continue this work, we need kind people like you to open your hearts and help.
Since 2014, MN POC Pride has focused on identifying and connecting with LGBTQ+ persons of color across the state. Our services include direct person-to-person advocacy, civic engagement, HIV health advocacy, equity & equality, as well as our trademark/hallmark Twin Cities Black Pride Festival weekend. Our organization works to enhance the quality of life for LGBTQ+ people of color & families living in Minnesota by cultivating the belief in equality for all and fostering awareness about both the individual commonalities and differences in the people of the LGBTQ+ community.
2020 was exceedingly difficult for us as we re-envisioned our service delivery model. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, we worked hard in collaboration with other organizations and individuals to make a successful community event and a variety of community engagement opportunities. At that time, 60% of our revenue came through corporate contributions and foundation grants. The remaining 40% of our revenue is raised through fundraising and contributions from individuals like you. Today, we understand the necessity to have a deliberate plan for weathering any storm. In this new future, we are focused on understanding the relief options that are being provided by state and federal entities. We are immensely proud to have community support and we need your help more now than ever! We cannot do this without the selfless generosity of others. The financial contributions given will assist this organization in continuing to execute its mission. Permitting us to engage in issues such as civic engagement, health disparities, mental health, homophobia, sexism, racism, poverty, homelessness, the HIV/AIDS epidemic for African Americans, and generate our annual Black Pride Festival to celebrate LGBTQ+ people of color and bring BIPOC communities together. Your contribution also allow us to assist many of our brothers and sisters that are less fortunate in the Twin Cities with something as simple as a dry pair of socks and/or a small package of essentials to endure our Minnesota winters or support some of the small personal requests from those individuals that are struggling with homelessness, Covid-19, job loss, mental challenges, and/or they are in need someone to converse with about their individual challenges in their life.
Now is your chance, to directly support the lives of LGBTQ+ people of color. With your support, the, Minnesota People of Color LGBTQ+ Pride Organization will continue to be an impactful community resource. The collaborations created with the other groups of color, allies, and support organizations allow us to produce the Annual Twin Cities Black Pride Festival. The Annual Twin Cities Black Pride Festival is an African American celebration of cultural awareness, recognition, and fellowship that is open to everyone. Safe spaces for collective engagement for supporting black enterprise, acknowledging black contributions, and embracing black importance. Organized in public venues located in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. The festival activities will vary from year to year as we ensure all-inclusive efforts to connect the cultural and traditional gaps between cultures within the LGBTQ communities at large. The festival promotes opportunities for public education in the diverse LGBTQ issues and the cultural traditions. MN POC Pride’s Board of Directors intentionally designed the annual festival to support the growth of our community. It is held annually; provides volunteer and community service opportunities; supports local artists & entertainers, local businesses, and it is an additional revenue source for MN POC Pride Organization and its collaborative partners.
We are growing in the community and respectfully ask for your support to continue this work. With the vital help of community, we can change the culture in Minnesota together. We can only achieve this goal with your essential financial support. Now that Covid-19 vaccines are available and community events are slowly returning, we must begin preparing for the annual Twin Cities Black Pride Festival Weekend in August 2021. Pending final Covid restriction, this festival is a weekend of coordinated pride social opportunities and fun events. We humbly ask for your assistance to help us grow our impact!
