Starting on April 25, 2018, we began hosting Collaborative Giving Days with our friends at Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF). And because Giving Days play such an important part in the fundraising efforts of many nonprofits, we contributed $100,000 in matching funds.
“Collaborative Giving Days are an excellent way for nonprofits to join around a common theme and leverage the power of a combined marketing effort,” said Funraise’s Chief Executive and Co-Founder, Justin Wheeler (that's our CEO!) “Giving Days provide incentive and excitement for donors to learn about organizations and make an impact. We’re thrilled to offer what we believe are the best tools to fundraise, and enthusiastically support OCCF’s mission to increase philanthropy overall.”
The first Giving Day, named 'Help Them Home', was held on April 25th, 2018 and aimed to raise $500,000 online in 24 hours toward ending homelessness in Orange County, CA. Sixteen nonprofits joined in, including Families Forward, HomeAid Orange County, and Thomas House. You can find the complete list of participants, host your own fundraiser, and make donations on the Help Them Home campaign site.
OCCF had tremendous success increasing philanthropy with previous Giving Days, raising over $5 million during two 30-hour iheartOC events in 2015 and 2016. This got us thinking... more is better, right? So we worked out a partnership with this funding awesome organization and the nonprofits they support, providing local organizations with access to our cutting-edge tools and CRM for their own Giving Days.
We love this quote from Cathleen Otero, VP of Donor Relations and Programs at OCCF, for so, so many reasons. “Funraise is a powerful platform that will significantly expand the impact of Orange County Giving Days. We are also delighted to accept their pledge to match up to $100,000 in donations.” You got it, Cathleen! We're here to help.
